4020 starting problems. My '64 4020, has issues with not turning over fast enough to start. Reasonably new starter, new batteries 550 cca, new cable clamps. Had a mech. look at it, and came down to ground strap corrosion. Idle the tractor for a few minutes and check the hydraulic operations. If the problem persists, then check oil flow and pressures.Member. Oct 12, 2023. #4. Make sure the surfaces are clean and I roughed them up with some really coarse sandpaper so that the JB weld had something to bite. I have had them on for 6 months and so far so good. On a 4020 when the hitch lever is fully back the raise valve is held open so unless they have an inlet check like later models the hydraulic discharge valves could be the issue.
