Ruger American Ranch $557.99 in 300BLK (because I already have a riffle in that chamber and ammo), in the long term what would be the better rifle, better after market support, better dependability? The Savage Axis, by far, for one major reason. Aftermarket. You have a couple stock and trigger options with the Axis. Not so with the American. The flimsy, cheap, ugly stock that cannot be replaced is the main thing that keeps me away from the American. Also consider the barrel twist rate.The savage will run with anybody in accuracy. There is no reason to pay more if you are using it a basic hunting rifle. If you want smoother and still accurate by a Tikka.
